Event Protocols
The following protocols apply when requesting the Dean’s participation at events initiated by units, schools or departments within the college. Candidate interviews are excluded from this process.
- The department hosting the event is expected to cover all related expenses unless the Office of the Dean or another party states otherwise. Costs may include catering, linens, flowers, police services, parking, transportation and photography.
- If needed, contact the Dean’s Office to schedule an event walkthrough at least four weeks before the event.
- The hosting department must also name a contact person and provide the support staff needed before, during and after the event.
The Dean will be briefed internally within seven days of the event. To prepare for this briefing, submit the following at least one week before the event:
- The event program
- A guest list
- Bios for VIP guests
- Background information about the event (such as its purpose or goal)
- Suggested talking points if the Dean will give remarks
Email final versions of all documents to the Dean’s executive assistant.
