2025 - 2026 IDH 3940 Application Request

2025 - 2026 IDH 3940 Application Request

ELIGIBILITY

Internship credit (IDH3940) is available for Honors students pursuing an internship. If your major department does not offer internship credit, you may apply to enroll in IDH 3940. IDH 3940 is a 3-credit course. The Honors College will not award credit for an internship if you are receiving credit from another department.

You are allowed to enroll in IDH 3940 once. If you have already taken this course, you are not eligible to apply again.

Students must properly research and vet an internship site before confirming participation and requesting credit. Please note, the University has no control or oversight of the internship site.

To be eligible, the internship must:

1) Consist of hands-on, practical experience that incorporates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom.
2) Provide skills and knowledge transferable to other opportunities.
3) Center around defined learning objectives related to professional/personal goals.
4) Be supervised by an established professional.
5) Not be a continuation of a previous internship.
6) Take place during the entire duration of the academic semester and be between 30-40 hours a week.

If you're internship does not meet requirement #5, consider applying to IDH 3999, a zero-credit internship course that does not count towards your upper division requirements but will appear on your FIU transcript.
