FIU Group Tour Code of Conduct

FIU Group Tour Code of Conduct

1. Groups are expected to be ready and prepared to depart promptly at their designated tour time. Tour Guides are FIU students and may have class immediately following your tour end time. Groups arriving more than 30 minutes late will not be accommodated. To ensure the best experience for your group, we ask that you arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior and use the restroom facilities before the tour begins.

2. Groups are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and courteous manner while on campus. This includes respectful use of facilities and appropriate noise levels. Disruptive behavior at any time during a tour including disrespect or inappropriate questions toward our tour guides will not be tolerated. Please prompt your group of appropriate questions during the tour and assure they are college related. Our tour guides and any other member of the Admissions Office staff reserve the right to end the tour or visit at any time. This may jeopardize the group’s opportunity to visit in the future.

3. Groups of students should remain under close supervision by teachers/chaperones during their visit. Tour Guides are not school group chaperones and are not responsible for managing the behavior of guests. Therefore, one chaperone per 10 students is required in order to help manage students while on campus and keep the group together at all times. FIU will not be held liable for any lost or stolen goods, accidents or injuries.

4. Groups are required to review the confirmation email prior to coming to campus for additional parking information and driving directions. Additionally, groups are responsible for arranging their own transportation.

5. In the event that your group cannot attend your tour, we kindly ask for a cancellation of at least 24 hours in advance.

6. Tours are designed to allow guests to experience FIU; there may be classrooms, buildings or facilities not available during the tour. If you have any special requests, they are to be made 10 business days prior to the visit.

7. Drugs, alcohol, tobacco and weapons are not allowed on campus during the tour. FIU is a smoke-free campus.

8. Littering is not allowed.

9. Your safety and that of our students, faculty, and staff are important to us. Please stay home if you feel ill. Face coverings are recommended. Frequent hand washing is encouraged.

10. The tour is a moderately paced walking tour of campus with stops in shaded areas or inside buildings. Should you need an ADA accommodation to participate in the campus tour or need to request materials in an accessible format, please contact FIU’s Office of Civil Rights Compliance and Accessibility (CRCA) at 305-348-2785 or ocrca@fiu.edu. All requests for ADA accommodations or accessible materials for this event must be submitted to CRCA at least two weeks prior to the event or at the earliest possible opportunity.

11. FIU adheres to NACAC's Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission
